Just wondering about some of the bars in Itaewon that do open mic nights/afternoons/whatevers for musicians. Things like: What bars? When do they have them? What's the atmosphere/crowd size usually like? What kind of stuff do they expect you to play? How long do they give you? Do you need to bring your own instrument/what's the setup like?

I live a bit too far away to snoop around and find out for myself, and generally don't like bars much anyway, so I wouldn't want to snoop around and find out for myself. That's why I came to you good folk.

I also read, in the search I did before I posted, about a place at Samsung Plaza near me here in Bundang called Dublin that did open mics. If anybody here has been there for one of them, how's about answering some of those above questions for me?

Woodstock has open mic - used to be every other Sunday night, might have changed. I haven't been there for ages.

It's a pretty mixed crowd, some older dudes who've been here ages, most of them are really good. You can play/do whatever you want but it tends to stay pretty folk/rock/classic rock as far as music goes.

Some people read poetry, show videos,etc..Anything goes.

Most people bring their own instruments. But I've had friends go unprepared and manage to borrow one from someone else. People seemed pretty chill there.

Drinks were kinda watery.

I don't know how true all that is anymore or how helpful...bu that's all I know.
