Just a quick question, when will the public schools hold their midterms and finals this year? I wish I had access to an academic calendar; if anyone has one (if such a thing exists over here), could you please send it to me? If not, could you let me know when the fall midterms and finals will be?

This is regarding middle schoolers in Anyang, if that makes any difference.

Much appreciated!

Exam schedules are set by individual schools, sometimes at the same time as neighboring schools, sometimes not.

Each school sets out its annual schedule detailing most special events at the beginning of the school year -- all the Korean teachers have copies & are happy to share them with the likes of us if we ask, but otherwise it doesnt seem to occur to them that we might be interested!

Subject to change of course, but in practice largely adhered too.

Every school's different. Mine will hold its first term finals next week. Second term midterms will be the third week of October, I believe, and second term finals will be the third week of December. However, even within my school district the schools follow different exam schedules.

Mine are next week. But, they do vary from school to school.
Why don't you ask your co-teacher?

I though cgroach wasn't in the country yet. Am I mistaken?

Yeah, I'm not in the country yet. Not only that, I don't think I HAVE co-teachers. I'm teaching in an afterschool program for middle schoolers prepping for high school entrance exams, and I get vacation time whenever they have their exams in public school. Hence, my curiosity!

It seems strange though, that even schools within the same district would have differing exam times. I guess I'll just have to wait and find out when I get to Korea!

Thanks for the help!

My school had exams this week Mon-Wed. Unfortunately, this also convinced most of the students, especially 3rd graders, that they no longer have to make even a minimal effort to remain attentive in any class. And so the battle intensifies...

My school posts all its calendar info on its website. Does the school in question have one? You could check there and use a dictionary if you don't know the Korean words for exam, vacation, etc.
