1) France v korea

Patrick Viera heads the ball clearly over the line in the 18th minute, it is unnoticed by ref.

3 fouls in the South korean box, should have been penalties. Unnoticed.

Zhidane yellow carded and ultimately sent off for taking a free kick a moment before the whistle. Harsh.. a glorious career ended.

2)Portugal vs Netherlands:

Ref Ivanov lets fly with 16 bookings and four players shown red cards a tournament record. Six yellow cards between the 73rd and 78th minutes.. Also 8 undeserved yellows handed out in the France vs switzerland game.

3) Australiavs Japan

Ref allows goal to stand after Japanese player knocks goalie off balance and sends ball into net.

Zidane wasn't sent off, it was a substitution. He was banned from the next game though.

He was not sent off because of the Korean game..he got his first yellow vs the Swiss (which is when he took his free kick to quick).... Rolling Eyes

As for worse calls:

Togo-Switzerland

The non-call when a player on the Togo team got mugged in the box by the Swiss defender...no penalty called.

US-Italy

Red card to Pope...was a yellow at worst....bad call.

Italy-Australia

Penalty called on the aussie player 10 seconds before the end of the game...Totti scores...game over.

It was questionable at best.

Croatia-Australia

3 yellow cards on the same Croat player in the same game and the ref fudged his notes and did not send off the Croat player until the end.

That game was ridiculous. At one point in the first half, Robben got kicked in the face and nothing was called. Shocked

No question at all, Totti dove. I feel sorry for the Australian team. To lose like that. They deserved better.

There is no question Totti did not dive. The big lanky left-back went down a bit easily though.

My knowledge of who's who in soccer sucks, but I don't believe it was Totti who tripped over the player on the field. However, he took the kick.

That was my favorite for worst though. The guy should have gotten a yellow for being clumsy. I lost all respect (there wasn't a lot to begin with) for soccer with that call and the whole yellow card system. Someone gets 2 over a 3 game period and he can't play in the next match? A lot of these yellows are marginal at best. Take a guy's chance to play in a huge game away. (Zidane for example or what's his face from Ghana.) Stupid Stupid Stupid. I think they should video review a guy's yellows after the games are played to determine if he deserves to miss a game. What a stupid game.

Then I have to endure the Swiss/Ukraine game. Oh my Lord! That's about as boring as it gets.

It was a yellow card- his second of the game.

Perhaps you're thinking of the other American who got a red for a slide tackle.

USA-Ghana

Gooch is charged with taking down Pimpong in the penalty area with seconds left in the end of the first half. The US had just scored to change the momentum of the game too.

For all the diving Robben got up to, he deserved to be kicked in the nads too.

Argentina V Mexico - Heinze fouls the Mexican forward who would have had a clear run on goal. Should have been sent off, but the ref only gave a yellow. The way Mexico were playing, I think Argentina would have struggled with 10 men.

For me the worst decision was the decision to award a penalty and send off a Ukranian defender for a professional foul in the Spain/Ukraine game. The guy took his shot and then fell over. A truely diabolical decision. I hope that guy never referees again.
