How much money do I need to bring until my first payday arrives!
It's getting too close and i'm panicking because I can't save a bean and don't want to be caught out!!
I know it depends on lifestyle and I am definitely not planning on hitting bars every night, I don't drink too much and I don't want to be near the temptations of the big city. My ideal location would be one of the islands Geo-Ju, Jeju or Nam-Hae but I have been offered a job in Busan also
Can anyone give me an indication of how much I would need for a sober first month in any of these locations?
Thanks in advance! |

minimum for a month is about 300$ and thats absolute minimum.
600$ and you shouldnt have any worries at all
It is recommended that you bring 1000$ if you can and then you wont have any worries reaching payday.
Oh yeah, you can almost always ask your boss for an advance on your salary after a week or two |

After you have a couple of weeks under you belt, just ask your employer to give you 500,000 Won. Problem solved. That's only half of what you'll have earned. You can easily live off that much in one month let alone two weeks.
When I first lived here, I was watching my pennies. I was buying all my food at the supermarket, taking the subway to work and back (1800 Won total ever day), and I smoke. I was getting free lunches druing the week at work. The supermarkets aren't too bad here. You can make yourself spaghetti, curried chicken with potatoes and other vegetables and you've got yourself four meals right there. Spice your meals up with these saussages they have at the nice supermarkets with potatoes or something and you're set for just about a week. You could totally do dinner at home for 30 bucks a week. Get water at work. |

I was aiming at 500 - 600 UK so I was in the right area!
Nice to know an advance could be an option too, im terrible with money! |

That should be enough to last you the month. Bear in mind that some employers don't pay until the 10th or 15th of the month for the previous month's work, so you could conceivably go up to 45 days without getting paid. |
