I may have to 'teach' on Friday, which will consist of showing DVDs to post-examinated students who are in no mood to do any real learning.

I started a new job today at a public high school. The rest of the teachers are running around like crazy and I'm sitting here playing on the computer my co-teacher was nice enough to let me use. They haven't had a foreign teacher in awhile and the kids that are walking by the staff room keep looking in and saying "hi" and giggling. Well, the staff is actually doing the same thing.

What a great time to start a public school gig. You won't have any regular teaching to do until the end of August.

They mentioned me teaching special classes during the break. I get paid extra so I figure I might as well. Although I haven't agreed until I get a better idea of what's going on. Maybe I'll go outside again.

Actually that was a remark to YBS and not you. Read the GEPIK thread to understand.

A loser who's made the mistake of trying to conduct some serious learning the day after final examinations once before.

Actually what I'm planning to do is show them the first 30 or 40 minutes of Anne of Green Gables after doing some explanation of the background, then going over some questions afterwards. Last winter for my winter break classes I already went over an abridged version of the book with some of them, so some will already be familiar with the story.

But since I'm not even sure if I'll be teaching them on Friday I'll save the prep. for Thursday afternoon.

None of the above. I never have to come in if I have no classes. This is maybe because I don't even have a desk in the teachers' office. I've never been asked to come in and they just tell me I have no classes.

I love my job.

The problem is that I only have up to 50 minutes. Something like FBDO would be great but harder to interrupt in the middle. The Anne of Green Gables series kind of goes on forever anyways, so cutting it off part-way through should be no problem.

They aren't hiring a new foreign teacher at my school, so they've started phasing me out! (starting the new session so everyone is taught by only one teacher). (oh yah, I'm at a hogwon)
I'm down to 2 hours a day...4 on thursday.
So I pretty much feel like I'm doing nothing!

if I had no work all week long, I'd be gone away on holiday, simple as that...
Wasting time in an empty classroom is not my thing. Surprising what you get if you put your foot down.
