Does anyone know if and where these creatures exist on the ROK? I have been here for 3 years and have to find one. It would seem this would be cheaper than running the AC. Anyone have any leads?

I they exist. My sister-in-law has one. They usually come with a filtration feature, and cost upwards of 300k for something decent.

Sorry, I can't tell you what they're called in Korean right now, but that might point you towards the right section of himart / department store.

internet shopping. type in che-sup-gi at danawa or enuri.com and there are some cheapo 40k ones.

carrefour, emart, homeplus hyundai basically any department store will carry them. You might not see them now since it is already bloody humid outside but wait until fall and you'll be set.

The OP wants DEhumidifier, not humidifier. I.e. things that take moisture out of the air.

They sell these little boxes with crystal gels thing in them - about 4/5,000 won per 4 boxes. Not entirely effective but they do work somewhat.
