I'm filling out my SMOE application and the part that asks about past employment history/teaching experience says that I must show proof that I was employed by them.

What if I don't have any proof, pay stubs, records, whatever?

Are they really uptight about this and with showing proof? I assume so because past teaching experience has an effect on salary. Just want to know what other people used as proof.

Option 1: Get some sort of proof

Option 2: Go on the lowest pay-scale

Proof from home = reference letter indicating classroom experience and length of employment.
Proof from Korea = certificate of employment. Your past employer is required by law to give this to you.

No proof of classroom experience moves you DOWN the pay scale to a lower wage.

I had the same with GEPIK. It only gave me 100,000 won more a month. It didn't matter if I had 4 years or 1 year. So, if you can't it's not a huge loss.

Yes you need it for SMOE to get the higher pay scale and they do insist on it. It doesn't have to be contract or pay slip though. All you need are references, with employment dates from your past employers. I didn't have all mine, so I contacted my last school who then faxed such a reference directly to SMOE the next day, and they were very happy with this. They have never asked me for the original letter.

Good luck!
