Jim Rome is the worst sports commentator in America. He refers to his show in the third person and tries to have this reputation of an "in your face" sports commentator. He will brag about how great he is and goes on a shameless self promoting rant at least once a day. The guy pauses in between every comment so there is a second of dead air every other second. He rarely has an interesting topic but when he does he beats it to death. How this guy has a show on ESPN radio and television is simply amazing.

Not to mention about 400 stations in the US and Canada.

For those who hate Jim Rome and missed this Classic in the 80's take a look, Jim Everette could have killed him.

Pundits and sports commentators aren't paid to make middle-of-the-road pronouncements. They get paid to make extreme, hair raising remarks that make people either love them or hate them. That is what draws in listeners, not some wishy-washy unbiased, truth laden examination of the facts. In short, they are professional trolls. YHBT. HTH. HAND.

I remember Jim Rome as cutting edge a dozen years ago.
(A half-notch up from the Babe and JT in the Brickhouse.)

These days he's just cut.

The same guys who agree with him find chess boring: lack of patience, strategy, and pattern development recognition. American football can be quite analytical, or just sensational. Basketball is a game of flow too, but with instant gratification. Hockey is midway between basketball and soccer in terms of mental commitment.

Me and the citizens of the other 179 odd nations in the world don't know who Jim Rome is, nor do we care.

If you aren't a sports fan and aren't connected digitally to sports radio stations, then yeah, you don't know.

Rome's show has gone to shit...

He drags on bits WAY too long, is all about hyping himself or his other shows and turns every interview these days into a love fest..

Time for him to go.

If your idea of sports consists purely of baseball, basketball and NFL, maybe. Most of the rest of the world don't give a crap. Sports fan my fat arse. PS, forgive me if the digital stations I listen to don't give a toss either.
