Becks has quit as England captain, but insists he'll keep playing for England. He was definatly crying when he announced it.
I don't think anyone sums up the English spirit more than him. He's been a great captain, acheived something he dreamt of as a boy. |

| He's been captain for a long, long time. Time to move on. |

He was quite emotional. Real media darling, they lap that stuff up in Britain now.
I attribute it to the national outpouring that followed Diana's death. The stiff upper lip has definitely left the English psyche. A new public emotionalism is the thing now. I suppose its cute occasionally.
Next: expect an emotional outpouring from Rooney on why the British people should forgive him because he was raised in a tough neighbourhood and broken family. |

| Obviously six years as captain of the nations football team would mean nothing to you would it? |
