today I went into the KEB branch in my little city in Gangwondo and asked for a secured Mastercard and was told they have no secured credit cards.
I would like to get a secured card because the Mastercard I received last year from a company in Canada called Moneymart is now empty.
I can only refill it at their branches in Canada and I won't be going anytime soon so I would like to get one in Korea.
does anyone know how?
by the way, I do not want an unsecured card because a wise man once said "lead me not into temptation, for I can find it myself" |

My co-worker went into Hana Bank yesterday with a Korean translator to try for a credit card.
He was immediately told no. Foreigners can't have credit cards.
So, my co-worker and translator started giving some ideas and options. Like opening a account with 1,000,000 won which would be like a security deposit for a low-limit card.
They said no problem! You can have a credit card if you give us a security deposit which covers the limit of the card. Why wouldn't they? They can't lose!
So it just goes to show. These counter clerks just assume foreigners can't have credit cards. And they are not inclined to offer any other way of doing it. But if you do the talking they may go for it. |
