http://korean.sogang.ac.kr

That's Sogang University's virtual Korean course, it'll take you from beginner to upper intermediate with cartoons and games. It doesn't replace a live class, but it's a good start. I'd recommend a good textbook, too, like Elementary Korean by Ross King, available at www.whatthebook.com.

Try language exchanges, some of which can lead to great friendships or more. Check the classifieds in the Korea Herald, or skip the games and go to www.ublove.com.

Our very own Mithridates has a lot of great suggestions on his website as well, check www.cyworld.com/mithridates.

If you have time and money to spare and you're in Seoul, YBM Jongro has good courses, or you might be able to find classes that fit your schedule at Sogang, Yonsei, Ewha, Seoul National, or any number of other universities here, but most of those classes are 3-4 hours a day on weekdays, so they aren't really meant for people teaching English full time.

There are a ton of options here however, and learning Korean is one of the most fun and worthwhile things there is to do here.

Good luck.

If you are in Seoul. I study at the Seoul Korean Langauge Academy in Gangnam and it's pretty good.

get a phrasebook...its a good start and its written phoenetically so you can say it...and its also got the english translation and the korean script written too

i have used my phrasebook so much and now can have basic (and i mean very basic) conversations with people in the shops/talk to the taxi driver etc

berlitz and lonely planet have really good phrasebooks that will tide you over untill you can get some lessons Cool Smile

Lemme guess...just had your first date with a hot girl who can't speak english? Wink

Sookmyung Women's University does free classes on Saturday from 4:30 to 6 I think. It's fairly decent. Use the search function on here and you can probably find more info.

Also, Yonsei, Sogang, and most other universities hold classes at night and have helpful English websites.
