I just received a contract offer yesterday from a public elementary school somewhere in Gyeonggido, between Hanam and Gwangju.
First, the conditions offered seem to me lower than those usually offered in Gyeonggido. I'm not sure, but it looks as if there's more than one education office in Gyeonggido, which would explain why those conditions appear to me a little different (lower); am I wrong? I found out the "Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education" web site, but the teacher who handed me the contract for the public school got his information from the "Gyeonggido Gwangju Hanam Education Office" web site.
According to this contract, I would be ELI-1 for only 2 million a month.
Then, I just couldn't believe it, the starting date is September 1 but it ends on February 28, 2007. I guess that means no severance pay.
Anyone else has a similar contract or any information/explanation? |

There are a lot of public schools wanting to hire teachers these days. Just pass on the contract you're mentioning here, you can do better. For a Level 1 ELI, I think the EPIK website lists 2.3-2.5 million won as the current salary. Small local offices of education don't necessarily know what other public schools offer. Keep shopping! |
