I need one to send money home. I am getting more and more hassles from the bank.

Boss claims he doesn't know what it is. Rolling Eyes

My co-worker is going to bring one in from another school to show him, and hopefully that will clear things up. Confused

But just in case it doesn't......what can I do about this situation?

Helpful thoughts welcome.

Thanks

They have been stamping my passport, but they have been VERY insistant that the next time I will have to have a pay slip.

I tried to send 2 mil home 2 months ago, and a mil last month.

1st bank was Busan bank, last month was KEB....same thing only the girl at KEB seemed a lot nicer to deal with.

I have been told that if I send under $1000us then I won't have a problem. Does this mean within a given month or is it just at one time?

i think as long as you send one mill per visit to the bank then you are ok...if you want to send millions per visit that is when you require a payslip just to show that you acquired your money legally Cool Smile

Whatever the problem at the bank, you should be getting a payslip (or be able to get one). My first hogwan owner would not give us one either, because he was under-reporting our income, so I could not send enough home. He kept saying things like "that's how it's done here." Eventually, I left, because I couldn't send my money home.

This is really getting annoying. I've never had to do this before and I've sent similar amounts home, now it seems every bank is requiring this.

I have always been asked for a payslip when sendng money home regardless of the amount. Otherwise they stamp your passport and you are subject to 10,000 USD limit. That's the law - which we all know means squat here in the land of morning calm.

If your boss is not giving you a payslip most likely he's pulling some shit. You going to have your friend bring him in a payslip? Are you kidding? Does the man live under a rock. He's dicking you around.

Same thing is happening here in Jeonju. Been going to the same KEB bank for almost 2 years and now they want my passport, ARC, copy of my contract. I show up with this stuff and then they tell me they want a payslip. I show them the direct deposit to my bank acount in my bankbook. It even has my school's name on the transaction but NO...they need a payslip...Something that I've never received in almost 2 years of working here. How annoying Rolling Eyes

KEB asked for a copy of my contract that they now have I file. I just need my passport each time I send $ back. I don't get pay slips. My boss is probably under reporting my income. He seems to break every other law.

I use nonghyup and I have never brought my passport. I show them my foreigner card and the papers from last time I did it and it all goes very smoothly. One of my teachers came with me my first time to help though. But no contract, no pay slips, no passport at all...

CHB, or whatever their name is now, has never asked me for one in the last 4 years. They don't actually need your passport either, just your alien card. At least that is what one of the bank clerks who has good English told me. Nothing has been marked in may passport either, well no surprise since they never saw it.

Is there a different standard for different countries of origin?

My last hagwon, Ivy school, never gave out pay slips. One coworker managed to get it, after a big fight with the director over it. They told her not to tell the other teachers she was getting one so she kept it mum until leaving Korea. Considering some of their other practices it makes you wonder just why they didn't want to give one out.

My first hagwon always gave us one. My new hagwon doesn't give it per se. However, they do have all the info available for us. The boss shows it to us every payday, and if we want a copy it is no problem.

I dont get pay slips. I use KB. I take the last transaction record, my ARC, my bank book, and I'm in and out in five minutes. Every so often they make a note on the last page of my passport, and after the expriation of my first contract, (they read my ARC), they asked if I still worked there. I said yes, and we were good to go.

It's been my experience that every time I HAVE received a paysltip (at the two hagwans who gave them), they were simply typed up by the receptionist at the school using Word or Excel. Nothing formal, just the payment details.

So, to solve the problem of the bank needing one and you not having one -- make it yourself.

Problem solved.

Well.....10,000USD if you don't have a "legit" source of income. If you can provide a payslip from your school, you can send home as much as your make a year.
