She is a 5 month old pure bred tri color beagle with beautiful markings. She is current on her shots and is healthy. She has a good disposition and is quite friendly. I am no longer able to keep her as my landlord does not like dogs and has complained to may school on numerous occasions. She comes with a ton of things: carrier, kennel, floor bed, food, treats, medicine, shampoo, toothpaste and brush, etc...Hopefully someone loves dogs as much as me and will give her a good home. Feel free to PM me or post a response. Thanks so much!

Might as well be the first one to ask: why didn't you ask the landlord about dogs before you got one? That's just irresponsible and unfair for the dog.

Hopefully, you will ask the new owner to make sure their living conditions allow for a dog, instead of just handing it off to the first person who comes knocking.

P.S. You've double posted. Just stick to one thread next time.

I really hope you're a woman because a guy just wouldn't pull a guilt trip like that when the op is just trying to help his/her dog. Unbelievable.

Anybody of either sex has the ability of foresight. OP seems to lack this quality; I called him out on it.

Oh really? Criticism, along with a helpful suggestion is unbelievable? If you're that sensitive, I must wonder what your response would be to some of the other posters in this forum. Toughen up.

Oh shut up you two. So many self-righteous, pedantic people on this board. I hope you find a good home for the dog. I'd love a dog, but there's so much to do during my time here, it might end up being more of a hassle! Good luck though.

Can I and how do I bring my dog? I do not have a family of my own and am attached to my 6 year old English Setter that I have raised since he was 7 weeks old. I had three dogs, and had to downsize 5 months ago to my one and only Deuce. Does anyone know what the procedures for bringing a dog to Korea would be if it is possible at all? I can't imagine having to get rid of him. Any help would be gratly appreciated.

Sure I see a pattern: Someone that is trying his/her best to find the dog a home; possibly in forgetfulness, forgot that he/she posted in twice....or...being new to the board and didn't know if the same people check multiple boards. Regardless, this person is showing general concern for the welfare of the puppy. Relax gentlemen and/or ladies. If people like this have nothing else better to do than point this out on this board then maybe it's time to find a new hobby like knitting or something. Rolling Eyes

The thing about taking on a dog is that it ties you down - you're responsible for it for 10 or 15 years after making the decision and that can be a real burden if your situation changes or you want to move.

This burden, however, can mostly be averted by simple foresight - for instance, making sure you're actually able to keep a dog in the first place. OP seems not to have done that, after having gone through the experience of having to give away 3 dogs prior to coming to Korea.

I was just hoping my words might make however small an impression on him to at least take precautions to make sure this new beagle puppy goes to a family that won't make the same mistakes he did.

Of course, this is Korea, so he could just cook and eat the dog if he doesn't want it anymore.

in the op's defense, sometimes Koreans complain about stupid things like dogs just because we are foreigners. maybe he DID ask about the dog, but now something has changed and he has to get rid of the dog. I just changed apartments about 6 months ago.

a crazy ajumma two stores down complained about my dogs barking too much. my school asked the neghbors next door, they sayed they barely hear the dogs. the crazy ajumma complained i dont recycle, the school asked the security guys and they said they see me recycle every week. the crazy ajumma complained that the INSIDE of my house is dirty... I told the school she never has been inside my house. the school told her since she was never invited inside my house, she must have entered illegally, and if she has any more stupid complaints they will call the police and arrest her. good school, but some Koreans are crazy, that is the point.

so before you assume the poster didnt check about the dog, why dont you ask?

i hope you find a new home for the dog...

Sure, maybe he DID ask about the dog. Maybe he's found out he's suddenly allergic. Maybe he's contracted SARS! Maybe, maybe, maybe. Nothing more than excuses. Maybe, just maybe, he acted on an impulse like many other irresponsible pet owners, because he wanted to have a cute little puppy.

If he really had to move, he should have found out if the new landlord was ok with dogs. Tough to find a place that's dog-friendly? Hard to enforce your rights because you're a foreigner? -- Should have thought about that before getting the puppy. This is nothing new, and OP could have prevented this from happening with some foresight.

Based on OP's post and him having shown a history of giving dogs away because he "doesn't want to deal with it," I'd say it's a fair assumption. He has every chance in the world to refute it, and when he does, I'll reassess my position if that means anything to him.

Wow. I might have been hard on you, but we're all open to criticism on this board. I will apologize for being too harsh.

However, I was addressing a valid concern for a problem that does not seem to be uncommon. You arrived in Korea not too long ago. You already found yourself a dog. Now you're looking to give it away. I'm not resorting to personal attacks (I didn't appreciate your remarks in your PM, but I can see I hit a nerve); I'm just looking at the facts.

Other than perhaps being too harsh, I fail to see how I deserved those words from you. However, I also do not wish to wrangle this issue with you any further, so goodday.

esetter,

There was a fellow here had a beagle, posted its cute pictures all over the place, everyone lauded it/him. Now I wonder where he is, because apparently he held on to it. Maybe find out.

Anyways, don't abandon it there in Korea. Listen to this.

I had a dog over there for over five years. I'd lived in over five different apartments and only had problems with one. For the most part I trained my dog not to bark, kept him secluded when not there, took him to work. The kids loved him, he remained quite quiet, and now, he's my mothers loving companion at home.

There are ways around dealing with having a dog, and it might be a great reward. I'd ask your manager to move you, perhaps even to a top floor apartment or something. Keep on checking here, as people aren't aware of how nice it is to have a dog in those lonesome apartments in Korea. The Koreans themselves keep a lot of dogs in theirs.

There was even a fellow posting all sorts of cute beagle pictures of his pup while here, saying it was no problem. I wonder if he has anything to say now. Nonetheless, you're going to have to use ingenuity, perserverance, and surpass cultural norms there in you want this dog.

Otherwise, if it's your last resort, check with the the U.S. army bases.
