Random question:
Is there an age that people reach when it is no longer cool to wear a backpack? I don't mean when you are camping/hiking a mountain/being Survival-Joe. Just during general activities.
What's the cut-off there? |

I'm 31 and I still use a backpack. I can carry more than a purse (I shop). It's especially useful when shopping as I can load it up and still have my hands free. Ditto when walking the dogs. When you have two dogs on leashes, you certainly don't want to be carrying a bag in one of your already busy hands. |

As long as you carry it on one shoulder, it is okay. A backpack over two shoulders is not acceptable for anyone high school age or older. |

If you're Canadian, your mileage will really vary. If you're a guy, you really don't have to quit until you're wearing a suit or something. If you're a girl, I think you can go until you're a mom and you trade it in for a diaper bag. It's pretty much ubiquitous. |

I agree with huffdaddy. Slung over one shoulder is acceptable for almost any age. Actually wearing one is restricted to campers and kids. |

I carry it on both shoulders as I do not want to have spine problems later in life. I'm one of those health over fashion people. |

Actually, I understand why its easy. However, it would make me feel a little juvenile to have one. Just my feeling, maybe.
I use a samsonite 'briefcase-carrying case thing' with the single strap and the handle. Seems better to me. A little more professional than a backpack?
And I don't walk around much unless I'm exercising, so maybe that makes a difference. |

There's rules about wearing backpacks!!???
Here's me thinking it was just a functional thing. Thank god I'm a total square who doesn't give a damn. |

Okay, to express myself a little more, I use the samsonite bag if I am going to teach. However, in daily life I see no need to take half of my house outside with me. |

So I roll into the new hagwon. There's the head teacher who calls himself 'Looney' and is kind of a goofy feller. Friendly, goofy, laughs a lot. Likes teaching. So he says 'Captain Kirk Teacher, why are you wearing such a big backpack?'. And I say, 'well, it's like this. I'm a car and this is my trunk. I don't have a car, get around by walking or motorbike, so this backpack is like the trunk of a car, since I don't have one'.
So he tries that out. Has a small backpack. 'I'm a compact car, and have a small trunk'. Laughs like a goofball. |
