|
|
When I'm in Korea, I miss Canada and could do with less kimchi. When I'm in Canada, I miss Korea, and could do with less........maple syrup?
Anyways, I'm in Canada now, and I miss not needing a car, having access to novel entertainment, and seeing hot babes every 10 feet (well in some areas anyways). I miss good food, good value, and not knowing what the day will bring.
But, when I get to Korea, I know I will miss the laid back culture of Canada, the nature, the peacefulness, and the beer.
What I won't miss? Ridiculous prices, especially in the service industry.
Anyways, Happy Canada Day eh! |

Dude, you are so off. Chuck Norris is everywhere. Hell, I am surprised he didn't immediately appear the second you clicked submit and roundhouse you to the moon for that kind of blasphemy (using his name improperly, and without capital letters). I guess he was lenient due to Canada Day. |

The land.
Wide open spaces, lots of animals, clean, fresh, pine-scented air, clear blue skies, the clean, clear Bow river, the massive nose hill park...true peace in the land there. And quiet. One can really be alone in Canada...get on a bike and within minutes, you are in a park where you can sleep, read a book....in peace and quiet. |

HAHA you beat me to it. I was just about to post that. I'm going back in 2 weeks and will bring back a few small tins of it which I will put on the shelf where I keep my "revered" items that are used only on very special occasions.
I also miss sailing, golfing, walking on the Vancouver Seawall, Whistler, wild salmon, halibut, fresh raspberries and blueberries and being able to understand absolutely everything being said around me. Hmmmm...maybe I don't miss that last thing come to think of it. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA |

The variety of foods and good public manners. I don't think I've ever heard a person excuse themselves for bumping me or getting in my way here. At home, I would hear it. Not from everybody, but often enough to notice it. |

I know what you mean -- I also miss what Canadians consider to be good manners among strangers. I wouldn't necessarily call that "good public manners" however.
My husband is one of the most well-mannered, polite and considerate people I've ever met, but when we were in a rush in a drugstore in Canada he bumped into someone lightly and didn't even consider apologising or excusing himself (although if there was any chance the guy was hurt he would have). The guy was offended, which I understood -- but his yelling out after him, "Excuse me" in an angry voice would have been poor public manners in many countries -- much worse than my husband's offense.... Before living in Korea, I might have reacted in the same way.... Different countries obviously have different public manners. But like you, I prefer the manners of the country I was born and grew up in. |

Hmmm... Are you really a Canadian? "alabamaman?" Sure there are some crap Canadian beers but there are a ton of microbrewries in Canada now that turn out some great beer. Comparing Korean beer to Canadian beer is like comparing sewer water to Perrier. |

alabambaman.....i suppose you are all aboot the silver bullet or budweiser? pretty soon the US of A is going to need Canadian toilet water to mix up those superior brews of carefully chosen hops and barlies. i'd rather drink Cas (or even Cash) than budweiser. that said, canadian beer doesnt compare to european brews. warsteiner, lef, etc. big rock is good stuff though. sleemans to. alexander keiths. etc. etc. about the only american beer i like is old milwaukee and miller. |
