Since people are forever asking about tips on K(C)orea before they come here, I decided to start compiling a list(taken from another website).
See if you can add some more.

Tips on Korea:

- The Korean word for "Internet" is "Internet."

- 500 ml bottles of water cost 500 won. That's like 48 cents.

- 25% of Koreans are named Kim.

-When you are crossing a one way street, look both ways.

-A lot of bread you find in Korea will be sweet. They think it is a dessert snack.

-Koreans never go streaking. They should.

-If a drunk guy youve never met says he wants to be your friend, run. Run like the wind!

-Don't correct your Korean co-teacher's English in class. Apparently, it is ok to teach Konglish.

-If you refuse to do extra favors for your employer (which could be construed as violations of your contract) you're looked upon as a greedy and selfish foreigner.

-If you have a problem that needs fixing at work or with your apartment, tell more than one person who can help you.

-Koreans like persimmons. Sometimes they look like tomatoes. If you want tomatoes, make sure they are tomatoes.

-Be nice to the office staff. They can help you in ways you couldnt imagine. They are like children- snacks and candies just make their day!

-To be a legal resident of Korea, you must swear an oath to hate Japan forever.

-If you get in a fight and lose, the other guy will have to pay you blood money. If you win, run like h*ll or beat yourself up so you look worse than the other guy.

-Korean kids like to stick their fingers up others butt holes. Youll find out- protect yourself.

-If Koreans ask you What do you think of Korean girls?, smile and change the subject.

-Korean kids will spout of the F word with no comprehension that they shouldnt do it.

-Koreans believe that you shouldnt flush toilet paper- they think it will clog the pipes(true with some really old buildings). All of the new buildings will be able to handle flushed TP.

(This one goes for all over the world)
-If a girl says Ive never done this before, shes done that thing at least three times.

-If you see a middle-aged man scowling, that just means that hes smiling on the inside.

-Bring enough deodorant to last you for a year(6 or 7 sticks does it for me). Then, pack 50 million extra sticks to pass out as gifts.

-Soju is very, very low grade vodka. It is harmful to your health and well-being. I mean 1 bottle costs about a dollar. How quality can it be?

-That stuff that looks like yummy chocolate toppings on things you see in the bakery is actually red bean. It is not chocolate and no amount of wishing will make it chocolate.

-Department stores have about eleventy billion clerks who follow around customers and stare at them. If they annoy you, you are legally allowed to spank them. This is the only reason that people shop at these ridiculously over-priced establishments.

-Koreans can only hear things above 140 decibels.

-The Korean netizen army threatens to do all sorts of things to foreigners, deviants and enemies of Korea, but that would involve actually getting up from the computer and doing something. Hence, they dont actually do anything.

-Someone may have mentioned that you have to shout for restaurant service in Korea. Actually, that`s half true - you should be shouting everywhere, for any reason, at all times. If that doesn`t get you noticed, douse yourself in petrol and light yourself on fire.

-A lot of fruit and vegetables are cheap here. in season, strawberries are very cheap.
- Rice is not

(This goes for everywhere in the world):
-If a girl tells you that she just needs to be by herself right now, she is lying. She really, really wants to be with someone, just not you.

The one great lesson that you will learn again and again in Korea is that there's no resisting change. You'll find that you have almost 0 control over anything here - even your teaching schedule can change at the drop of a hat or because Mr. Kim says so. So get used to it!

Speaking of bosses, this country is a paradise for the egotistical boss who loves to throw his weight around and scare his subordinates into submission. Good 'ole 1950's style managment is back where the boss is king and you keep your damn mouth shut. Smile

-Korean taxi drivers can speak English. They just pretend not to.
They learned this habit from their schooling in France.

-Korean females are permitted to behave, dress and giggle as if they are 6 years old. This can continue until they 63.5 years old.

-Foreign men are to behave as if they have had their genitalia removed upon entering the country.

-Foreign women are to be just as "easy" as have been seen in Hollywood movies.

-Foreigners who are to be on Korean TV must first attend The Robert Holley School of Acting Like a Twit While Sucking up to the Locals.

(This goes for all over the world):
-If a girl says that she just wants a nice guy with a good personality, she really means that she wants a good-looking, nice guy with a good personality.

I'll go 20% with reservations about the level of real cleverness in the presentation. But more the problem is that most of the observations are things that people generally get over or don't notice any longer after three weeks. Not really useful, and definitely condescending toward Korea.
