I was just wondering how many people out there are planning on heading to the Mud Festival? I've got my reservations booked and from what I've gathered, there should be a really decent foreigner turnout.
Who else is in? |

try booking a room and you are looking at both a deposit and a min bok for about 100-120,000won....no joke.
I'm going down on friday with hopes of avoiding the crowds on saturday |

| When is it? Where is it? And most importantly....what is it?! And don't just be a comedian and say a festival of mud. It sounds like UTTER GENIUS. |

We're leaving on Saturday night(most in our group teach all day Saturday) and coming back on Monday evening. You can catch a direct train from Youngdeungpo station straight to Daecheon. I think a lot of foreigners are departing from Seoul station but it's actually faster and easier to leave from Youngdeungpo because you don't have to transfer in Cheonan(you would if you took the train from Seoul station).
A Korean friend booked two minbak rooms for us. We have a six person room for 120 000 a night and a four person one for 80 000 a night. They did require a fairly large deposit. If you don't have a room booked for the weekend of July 15th-17th, then you better start calling(then again, you could always just sleep on the beach). |

| Don't bother booking. Showed up last year on Saturday afternoon with a group of about 10, had a choice of rooms... looked at 3 or 4 different rooms, all close to the beach. Even managed to bargain a few down by playing them against each other. Nothing fancy, a korean style mat-on-the-floor jobby, but a good enough to pass out. Think we paid about 10,000 each, maybe 80,000 total. |

That was last year. It's getting bigger every year. Pretty soon this thing is going to be the Woodstock of Korea (or as close as one can get in Korea). |

A coworker told me you needed to buy a ticket for mud fest, and that there are only 200 left, but she didn't know how to buy them ( a friend apparantly bought hers)
Does anyone know anything about this? Last year you didn't have to buy a ticket to go |

Can anyone who's been to this answer a question for me? What exactly do you do at the mud festival? I know that you rub mud all over your body, okay.. but that would take about 2 minutes. Maybe 3. Then what? You just walk around laughing and taking pictures? Slide around on the ground? Rinse and repeat?
I'm genuinely curious. |

Eat, drink, swim, sleep, suntan, cover yourself in mud, rinse, repeat.
It's fun for a 2 day trip, but that's about it.
Did it in 2004, skipped last year, and heading back this year. I hope to God they have some decent live music this time around. I would have preferred silence to the bands I saw in 2004. |
