I really feeling like taking a nap. All I did today was substitute teach two MS class, which consisted of ten minutes of going over movie terms and 35 minutes of watching a movie. Yesterday I felt dead tired after work, too, and all I did was go on a short hike (I did get up at 4am for France-Portugal). I couldn't even be arsed to go to the gym, something I almost always do if I have no plans.

Can not working make you more lathargic and tired than working? I think it can. When I'm racing around the school from class to class, trying to keep up to 34 kids in line and paying attention, doing favours, making photocopies, etc. I think I'm more in a mood to keep going. Anyone else feel this way?

I'll second that motion. I have the same problem.

There is something to what you are saying. Like the saying "if you want something done, give it to a busy man.".

Still, I think it has to do with the humidity and especially the low pressure system. Our bodies react to pressure (barometric) and it really creates a state of bloated lethargy as our bodies try to handle it and our vessels inflame.....

My two cents. It's only natural. I think many others must be also afflicted.

It's definitely the heat, and the rainy season right now as well. Don't forget the food, that cafeteria food isn't exactly brimming with protein. I think the best thing to do is to walk around a lot and drink frequently between classes.

I hear ya, no classes yesterday or today and I am really tired also has to do with the humidity though. Monday to wed nest week will be the same, no classes due to exams so I am dreading the beginning of the week next week. Maybe just maybe they won't make me come here and do squat all day.

In a way it can, but that's because of boredom. I remember studying Japanese when I had nothing to do and that put me to sleep big time.

When you're active, you're exercising the mind. The day seem to go by really quick. You also get a good night sleep.

During my time in Japan, I used to not only teach 6-8 classes a day, I also had lunch with the kids and played games outside during play time. Sometimes, I joined them for basketball or soccer training, they loved it! I really felt like I was contributing to the school as well as to my reduced waistline (now no more).

To beat boredom, I brought my own notebook to write programs, watch movies or learn how to use photoshop. Nobody cared.
