I've received a contract for a possible job at Jiheng Elementary in Dongduchon. Can anyone (previous/current native speakers, etc) give me any comments? The contract seems fair, I've been told I will get more than the standard EPIK vacation (though not clear how many days yet), etc.
Also, any comments about the location would be helpful.
Thank you for any help.
Cheers, |

Dongducheon is a mixed bag of people. But the pros are that you can pick up a lot of Western products and big-sized shoes and clothes in stores near the US Army base. The subway's there also now and they have a kind of mini-express run that skips some subways stations and will get you to Seoul relatively fast.
I once heard that one elem. school there was looking for a part-timer and offered a sweet gig, like 10 hours a week for 1.8 mil.
They have a pretty decent walking path along the river for exercise as well.
Marty's restaurant serves good Western food (like a Bennigan's) and is near Camp Casey. Also there - Subway, KFC, Dunkin Donuts. Crystal Sauna at Jiheng Station (near Baskin Robbins) is pretty new and nice. |
