Are there any sites that catalogue blacklisted schools that are maintained and kept current? What sort of liabilities do people face in providing that information? |

That's just it man, there's plenty. Maybe I'm just bored, but it seems like these poor guys that come over here don't have to suffer needlessly. |

The blacklist should be updated. If people feel the need to blacklist a school, then lets post some information on one of my posts in a sticky in this forum. Let the houndogs roll. This should be done for recruiters also. There is one recruiter I suggest to people over and over again, and he's Duff recruiting.

I know if my school dicks me on my last bit of pay I am going to toss their butts on a blacklist. Until then it comes down to a coin toss when I leave next month. Dodgy beggars ought to be keelhauled, but after looking over the veritable slew of postings about crooked schools I have to say I don't have it that bad off after all. |

There was a similar question posted over on the Japan forum. It seems that only if the computer server on which you have your website with potentially defamatory information resides in the same geographical jurisdication as the company which wants to sue you for it, then you can be sued. Apparently. Pretty complex, eh?
I can't see that there can be any cause for complaint if what information you are providing is 100% true, but in the case of existing blacklists on the web, most of them rely on anonymous contributors saying that such and such a school is bad. As a result, no one is really any the wiser whether the blacklisting has any real substance. A newbie teacher might not recognise this and could be put off a school which is otherwise good but just happened to have one disgruntled teacher who didn't fit in.
Better than any anonymously compiled blacklist, is for any potential new teacher to a school to always make a direct call to existing teachers in that school. |

There's also the Englishschoolwatch.org site. It gets new posts about every other month, but the forum is pretty slow.
It is important to take those things with a grain of salt...true, but when a school is noted for things like .....withholding pay, physical or psychological abuse there should be some way of warning the next guy/gal.
Contacting past or present teachers is nice, but sometimes it's not possible, as in a new school or new program.
It is also possible that some wingnut 'teacher' is just a whiner and is complaining about nothing, so it's good to get more than one opinion.
Anyhooo, hope this helps. |

Why, that sounds like a perfect recipe for revenge against old bosses...but you'd have to be fluent in Korean, post on Korean web sites, and somehow manage not be to sued to hell and back by indignant charlatans. Go for it. |

My old school is on there twice . And they just hired a new teacher to replace me. I informed him that the school had been blacklisted twice and he had no clue what I meant. It's scary that people don't do more research. |

These lists are important- I hope people use them before coming to Korea. What else do we have to go on to avoid living hell situations? |
