They failed... so much for their threat to meet any future U.S. military action with utter nuclear annihilation. ...North Korea, what a sh*t-hole... |

It was programmed to fail. You don't think they wanted it to go all the way to the US do you?
It was meant to drop harmlessly into the sea |

Maybe, but that short? Seriusly, what type oftest is that? It's a multi-stage missile and it did not go through all of it's stages. If they did want it to fall short, why not at least run through the cycles? |

RTFA
Daniel Pinkston, director of the East Asia non-proliferation program for the California-based Centre for Nonproliferation Studies, said the failure of the rocket would be a blow to Pyongyang.
"If there was failure that early on in the flight, there is no way they could make any claims of test-launching a satellite as they did in 1998. They will not be able to exploit the propaganda value of that after that type of failure," he said. |

They probably could still annihilate U.S. forces in South Korea if they wanted to commit murder-suicide on a grand scale - either premeditated or in a fit of rage...) |

Funny comment there for a moment, but when you actually put some thought into it sixteen members of NATO...including Italy, Spain and of course the UK, as well as Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, a handful of Arab and Muslim states, about a half dozen Latin and South American states and even a couple of random ones like Tonga, Iceland and Fiji were involved with troops on the ground in most cases...44 countries involved.
Even Canada has recently made it known that they have had a a number of special forces and RCMP embedded with American forces for some time.
So, my question is, how many other countries support the activities of North Korea? Venezuela? China? Iran? Maybe a few would talk sh*t into a television camera, but none would do anything when push comes to shove.
The fact is, neither Bush or his opponents in the Iraq conflict's buildup could justafiably claim the support of the international community. It was surely divided on how to best proceed. Personally, I thought before and still think that it was all a big miscalculation...and has in many ways been tragic. But I do want to point out that some people forget the US had more than a handful of allies in this conflict. |

The US damaged its international credibility badly by invading Iraq. So badly, if they ever fight a good cause, there will be plenty of people pointing fingers who don't need to.
Also, now that they're committed to combat in the Middle East, there's not much they can do elsewhere, not even on the home front. |

They did it during our independence day celebrations, too. Bunch of tools running that country (I guess you could say the same about Bush, though ). I bet the effers killed some poor innocent sea creatures by firing into the East Sea. I hope Greenpeace demonstrates... |

Hell, maybe they did it because they wanted to celebrate the Fourth of July too, and the western media spun it. All they wanted to do was join the block party, but they didn't know how to make potato salad. |
