Wow. Really, Pet Lover? My R-L calendar is just pockmarked with farewell parties this month. And now cyber-chingoos, too??
Expats are always departing, but a 10-year veteran... losing one of them is like part of the natural landscape sprouts legs and gets on a plane.

Yes, I am leaving. It hasn't been ten years though....I've only been here since 1997 and minus one year.
What happened? Well, I met a guy. On the internet. He happens to live in the States, so that's where I'm going. Yeah, we plan to get married. I never thought I'd find a vegan non-smoking, non-drinking, non-church going guy who is also into yoga and loves little dogs. What on earth were the odds?? But, we found each other and now we're in loooooove~!
You won't see any posts in the buy/sell/trade forum though as I negotiated leaving pretty much every right here in this apartment in exchange for not having to pay back anything for breaking my contract. (did give a little more than four month's notice) Next teacher will be extremely lucky.
July 29th and I'm out of here. |

Actually, I'm going to be a homemaker. I'm a throw-back to the 1950s....it's what I've wanted to be for as long as I can remember. Teacher was second choice after I realized that I had to earn some money in order to eat. I might get a part-time tutoring job....like 10 hours a week....and I might not. I'd like to work at one of the goraw branches to pick up food preparation tips...I'd work there for FREE (but won't tell them that unless it's the only way I can get it).
I'd say I'll miss you, too, VanIslander, but I've seen a lot of expats leave Korea for good and not be able to leave this board, so I'm not going to say I won't be posting anymore...because I probably will. |

kitekid, that (*$#^*#(* blender is still sitting around in my place. There is someone who thinks he wants it (he must have the muscles of a weighlifter or something), but I haven't been able to meet with him yet to give it to him. He also had dibs on the free air cleaner, and I'm thinking he's just going to have to come out here himself and pick up both items. Mike, you reading this?
Anyway, kitekid, now you know why I was so reluctant to purchase a high-end blender.....but you can bet I'm getting a great one once I'm over there! |

Yes, what were the odds? What were the odds? The mind boggles.
I can see two good things coming out of this...
#1. Korean kids will now be safer.
#2. And you found your teetotalling, yoga-lovin' fellow-pet-lovin' honey. Congrats on a job well done. Best of luck.
And if you and/or your dad make any more screw ups at the ATM machine, my mom and Aunt Helen are still waitin for the Lover family to take up the challenge.
No need to be a stranger around here.
Have a good trip home.
(Although this is probably misplaced and misdirected, I'd like to offer one last bit of advice I've adapted from an old friend: Soju gets you through times of no money better than money gets you through times of no soju.) |

Bah. I say good riddance to BOTH of ya!
Room and board for future Korean vacations can be arranged. Rates for Freeworld will be quoted in terms of Tim Horton's coffee, while Petlover will be required to pay in Dagoba chocolate. |
