Hello everybody. I'm new to this list.
My wife and I are still in the US, but we're planning on coming to South Korea in January. We're in the process of researching recruiters (I know, I know -- most of you seem to think they're devilspawn, but still) and we've checked out ASK (Access South Korea) Now. I've searched for them on this site, but I haven't found them mentioned, good or bad. I'm wondering if anyone out there has heard of them, or has heard anything about them, or has had experience with them, or has friends who have had experience with them. Can any of you help me out here? Thanks a lot. |

well I had similar questions for the forum regarding ASKnow. I just talked to a woman from them today for the initial phone interview. They seem really helpful, but there is a problem at least for me with them. Most of their clients/contacts are for K-6 schools. So if you do not mind the younger students then they are a very good company to go through. Personally I don't want to teach the younger students so I decided not to go through them as recruiter. I prefer high school/adult students.
The woman from Asknow said (paraphrasing here) that approximately 98% of their contacts are for elementary age students. She also said that the company's policy for actually shopping for a position for you doesn't start until 4-6 weeks before your earliest available date, so if you say you are available for November 1st they won't start looking for a position for you until September 1st at the absolute earliest. From the sounds of it it is more likely that they won't start looking until September 15th/October 1st. Has anyone else heard of a recruiter having this policy?
I hope that helps you make a decision regarding using this recruiter. Now for me I have to find another recruiter or position to look at. |

It wouldn't do them much good to start looking before that because jobs are not often available before that. Pretty much everything here is down to the wire/last minute/don't plan ahead. |
