Despite my defense of the iPod elsewhere on this board, my Powerbook has died. I had this problem a few months ago (just before my 1st-year warranty expired--thankfully it's been renewed), and it was a bit of a disaster taking it in.
I went to the Apple Service Store in Yongsan, where they told me that there was nothing that they could do for it because it was working fine when we plugged it in at the store. They then told me to go home and use the system hardware check disc that came with the Mac.
Fortunately, the computer seemed to magically start working again after that, and I didn't have any problems until about two weeks ago. The thing shut down for a few minutes but then came back again, but now it's happening again. I've got some files on there I want to use (I'm currently on my desktop PC, so I'm not totally lost here), not to mention the DVD I was watching which is still loaded in the drive.
Anyone have any ideas about how best to get this stupid thing fixed? |

If the Apple service store is not of any help, you might be in trouble. I don't know what to tell you except go back |

| Bit of an obvious thought, but what's keeping you from sending it back to the Apple Service Center? Under the circumstances I don't see what else you can do. |

Well, the only thing I can figure is that they're going to tell me the same thing they said the first time, since it seems to be the same problem again. Unless, of course, this time it doesn't turn on.
However, it shoudl be noted that if I lug this thing all the way back and it turns on and they won't help me again, I'm going to have a psychotic episode. |

| Take it to the Apple Store at COEX and ask someone at the Genius Bar. |

If you bought it wihin the last year you should still be covered for repairs and they are obligated to repair it. Or for three years if you bought Applecare. That said, I too have found Apple's Service to be just terrible in Korea. Twice I had to wait a month for a basic upgrade to discover they had done nothing at all (Coex store). This ain't the states or Europㄷ. No full-sized Apple shops or Genius bars here. I don't know what to suggest except that if you are truly deaperate take it to the Apple store in Fukuoka, Japan. |

| If all else fails contact Apple in the States and arrange to ship it back for repairs. |
