NEW YORK (KP International) Sean 'P/Puff(y) Daddy/Diddy' Combs' ever-changing nickname seems to be disappearing in a single Puff. The rapper was reportedly walking in New York on Sunday afternoon when he was called on his name change be a pedicab driver.

"While Puffy and his posse waited for the light to cross... a pedicab driver wearing a yellow SpongeBob T-shirt, a red and white Santa hat and black bike tights yelled out, 'Hey, P Diddy, how about a ride, help the working man out?'" a source told the New York Post's Page Six. "Puffy replied, 'I always help the working man out. And it's Puff, brother!'"

Apparently Combs then began to cross the street when the driver zinged him with, "Yeah, Diddy, how cool is a guy that changes his nickname more than a baby changes diapers?" According to the source, the "crowd was laughing at the driver's crack, and some other pedicab drivers started ringing the bells on their bikes. I don't know if it was to show solidarity with the driver or what, but it was surreal."

Good on the taxi driver. These idiots should be put in their places. I mean, who fuking cares? You see someone's face too much nowadays and it just gets annoying. They're just people.

What a dork. I think they were honking their horns and such because it was classic.

anyone who gives themselves a nickname is a tool to begin with.

nicknames should be received by the named person, not conceived by the person.

seriously. "i'm trevor, but you can call me SNAKE".

best nickname i gave anyone was "science fair" because the guy just kept quoting star wars and steven hawking while i was trying to work.

"SHUT UP, SCIENCE FAIR!"

Yeah, those nicknames you give to people can sure stick. I have a few myself. One guy who was always wearing at chain attached to his wallet in his back pocket. Brown vest and brown whatever. A girl from Australia once said, "Well, you're quite the college boy." It stuck. He might've graduated from high school. No college for him. Nickname stuck quite well.

P Faiggity can faiggity off.

Hehe-- funny story.

It reminds me of people who hate their nicknames; Springsteen hates being called 'the boss'; Elizabeth Taylor hates the name 'Liz'.

But these names sound so much more authentic than Michael Jackson, who has his publicists announce that he's 'the king of pop'. Nicknames like these sound so fake and arrogant.

Reminds me of when George Costanza wanted a cool nickname. He tried to get people to call him "T-Bone", but they ended up calling him "Coco".

I know it's only 2006, but I nominate P-Diddy(Puff) as the Douche Bag of the Century!

Famous people are nothing special. There are very few people I respect and "idolize" and most people wouldnt know them if I mentioned the names. Other than that actors and pop stars are nothing to me.

I agree famous people are nothing special but Puff Daddy is even less special than most famous people!! I've never seen any sign of talent from that guy. He just markets himself very well.

I seem to remember a few months ago he held a full-blown press conference just to announce he was dropping the P. from his name.

This is just media crap. Legitimately famous people don't need to call a press conference.

Good on the pedicab driver?

-Combs is going to cross the street.
-Pedicab driver decides he's going to shout out something unrelated to him. Obviously he's not looking for a taxi so he's just being an ass.
-Pedicab driver, pretending he knows the guy, calls him by his wrong name. Looks like the driver just knows enough about this guy to realize who he is, that he's famous, and he's going to have a bit of fun.
-Combs, surprised, says something back. "I always help the working man out" by itself makes it look like he's just blowing the guy off so he adds the only other thing notable: that he got his name wrong. What else is he supposed to say to a heckling pedicab driver he's never seen before and didn't even consider talking to before the guy started yelling something out?
-Pedicab driver, still an ass, makes a smartass comment, not even right away but after a few moments thought before Combs starts crossing the street. Not only is he an ass but he's also slow.

Why should I be proud of this pedicab driver?
