do you want to meet people or isolate yourself? Usually between contracts when I am unemployed and sitting at Mom and Dad's, I avoid people back home like the plague. I just got an email from an elementary school pal I haven't seen in years. She'll be in town, but I'm thinking why meet someone if your life isn't fabulous at the moment? I actually get my parents to make up excuses if some friend of mine calls to talk to me. I only like being around people when life is good.

I know the feeling but the reality is quite different.

I find I feel better after meeting others even I didn't really want to at first.

So, while in a funk I WANT to isolate myself I usually overcome that urge and force myself to go out with others because it turns out to be what I NEED.

No good comes from cubbyholing oneself for more than a day or two. If you're in a rut for an extended period of time then a change of habit and social interaction is what the doctor orders.

In these periods I don't like being alone, but when I am around others I worry that my problems will annoy everyone else and ruin their time.

I am an 'alone' person when I am grumpy or down. I just want to hibernate. I stop writing to my friends also, I dont want to sound down and ruin their day and being cheerful when I am not never seems to work.
I need to walk, hard to do when it doesn't stop raining..pouring down right now.
Too many years of travelling alone I think, I know its not good for me to isolate but hey, its what I do.

I think people might be a little quick to assume that isolation is a choice over here...I guess if you're not too picky about who you hang with you'd be okay. Most of the people I've met here have either gone home or drifted off. My wife is great company, but it's nice to have a conversation with people you don't have stop and explain stuff to.

You should be grateful to have people you can be around Gwanjuboy, if you're afraid you'll say something that will bring people down...just listen for a while and jump in after you've stopped focusing on yourself.

I recommend doing something you might enjoy that can also be theapeutic like artwork, music or writing. Movies are usually good mood lifters and can be inspirational...Vegetarian cooking? (Hey, worse comes to worst: mantra yoga - chant Hare Krishna!...)

Oh, stop, (Kteacher).

You were doing great with the advice-giving bit until the end, where you lost it.

The girl-troll (if she is one), probably isn't going to feel much better with the chanting bit. Cooking-wise, she might be a veg like yourself or she might be equally happy frying a cat. Who's to know?

All of that sounds like it makes YOU feel better though. Fine, as far as that goes.

Why however, do you need to think those the very things to make EVERYONE feel better?

Now I suspect, you are going to go off to cook up some wire filaments and do some hare-type chanting. Whatever floats your boat...

Another option is to find a therapist who's free & easy with the Xanax and anti-depressants. Shocked

Just an option. I think it'll be fun meeting people I haven't seen in 20 years.

When I feel down, I choke my chicken. It helps.

When I feel great, I spank my monkey. That helps, too.

An average day? Well, it goes without saying. I beat my meat.

It must suck being a girl.
