Korean upstart looks to challenge the big boys
Game Park is a company that you might start hearing a lot more from, if it can actually deliver on the ambitious display it put on at the recent E3 videogaming expo in LA. The Korean firm is to unleash a series of three handheld games machines that it hopes will snatch at least a crumb or two of the Nintendo DS/Sony PSP pie.
The device in the photo is the XGP Mini, which has a 2.2in screen and 96MB of onboard memory for $150 (Game Park is currently quoting prices in US dollars). The top end of the range is filled by the XGP ($300), which has a 4in screen, 128MB of memory, 3D graphics and Wi-Fi, but most interesting is the XGP Kids. Its similar to the Mini, but has no memory of its own and, at $75, we reckon could be the open-source flavor of the year with the Linux set. Watch out for the XGP gang from July. www.gamepark.com |
