Question:

If I re-sign to stay at my school another year will I receive another end of contract bonus if I stay the full year?

i.e. 2 years at the school, 1 bonus after the first 12 months and another after the 2nd 12 months???

I'm a little confused on this point!

And do you think its possible to negotiate for more vacation days? (Im at a hogwan and have 10 as it is)

thanks for any help...

Yes, you should have that included in your next contract. I would not sign another contract until you get the 1st severance money in your hands.

It's not a "bonus." It's SEVERANCE which is the law! If you work 1 year you get severance.

Depending on the size(employee) of your place of employment there is another thing called pension which is also the law. But you have to pay into that which the employer matches.

However, all foreigners are not allowed to receive the pension. I am, I'm American! Australians are not. Sorry, but I'm not sure about all other foreigners pension receiving status.

Pension and medical insurance are required for all academies, regardless of size. It used to be less then five, not required. That has changed. The government can also ask for the money in arrears. I have seen the notice, and a friend translated it for me.
In March during extension negotiations, my boss though she was being sharp by saying I could choose either the government system, with the extra costs, or the cheap health insurance she had organized, along with my 100,000 tax a month. I worked it out, and said I choose the government system, and showed her how I was going to make a million or so, while she paid several more million out of her pocket. Negotiations went well after that, including tickets to Jeju Do for my family.
There are a few nationalities that receive pension money back. US and Canada are two. However, everybody has to pay, they just dont get it back. That sucks for Aussies and such, but thats the way it is...
