I'd like to pick up this book - it gets good reviews.

Handbook of Korean Vocabulary: A Resource for Word Recognition and Comprehension (by Miho Choo)

The link is:

http://www.powells.com/biblio?isbn=0824818156

Anybody recognize it, and know where to buy it?

Thanks for helping!

When I bought it 4 or 5 years ago I had to get it over Amazon because, of all places, it wasn't available in Korea! But nowadays, it's hard to find a bookstore with an English section that doesn't have it, which annoys the hell out of me because I had to pay $11 for delivery from the US...how hard have you looked?! Laughing

Try Kyobo: they will have it, or be able to order it for you.

The thing is, I haven't looked. I usually check out almost every book in the "Learning Korean" section of the bookstores I go to, but I didn't recognize the cover when I saw it on-line. I may very well have seen the book before, and I just don't remember it.

From the sounds of it, I'll be able to find it at Kyobo. If that fails, Youngpoong and Bandi & Lunis are five minutes away.

Thanks for the reply.

It's a great book...seriously, I think it shaves a year off learning Korean. Enjoy!

Yea, but how do you study it? Just flipping through it and trying to remember that stuff is damn boring.

Where can I find that book in Seoul? I am going there this Monday. Is there a section of town or bookstore I should look at?

I have this book, though I actually don't really love it that much. But it might work for you.

Like some the others, I ordered if from amazon.com. I ordered several Korean books at once and shipped them. Definitely pricey, but a great selection and it only hurt once - then I had enough books to study for a year.

I found it (after a while) in Kyobo Bookstore (Gwanghwamun). I suppose, as excitinghead said, you can find it almost anywhere. But, the reason it took me a time to find it is the newest edition is a different color than the older edition I saw on-line. The front cover is orange and green now, and the spine is orange. It was only 13000 won, which I thought was pretty reasonable for a book that's almost 400 pages long.
