How can I obtain any sort of TEFL or any ESL/EFL certificate in the quickest time possible??
I am looking for a new job- I have a degree but I have told a couple prospective employers that I also have a TEFL certificate!! |

Another fine example of teaching professionalism that raises the bar for the rest of us who work hard to be recognized as a valuable asset to the community. |

| There is a cert called TEFL, get the TEFL. Not the CELTA. CELTA is harder and costs more. |

Seriously. You might even be able to download one right onto your cell phone and print it at the local copy place. Just like James Bond. |

I am not yet in Korea, but I have got a TEFL certificate on an online course at http://www.onlinetefl.com
It was a very reasonable price, gave invaluable teaching tuition (I even feel like a teacher!).
There are many options from the basic certificate, to the longer courses, weekend courses and extra grammar modules if required. |

These "pay $19.95 and get your degree" programs are all fine and dandy in Korea and I guess other countries where they don't really know nor care about where your education came from, but do you plan on staying here that long? What is the R.O.I. on this? If you do plan on going back to your home country, you do realize that mail-order type certifications are worth as much as dirty toilet paper sitting in the waste bin.
Just becareful. Make sure the place is accredited by an organization that has been around longer than 5 years.
Side note - don't take the easy way out. well...nevermind. I don't want to open this can of worms. Just remember, you are hurting yourself by doing so. |

| I took a TEFL class and have it on my resume. But I've never been asked to see a copy of the actual certificate. Of course, considering I spent US$1700 + airfare + expenses for mine, maybe I shouldn't be telling you this. But I'm sure you'll get flamed enough. |

Don't think its the one you're looking for since its online, not just in korea but there is this:
http://www.asian-efl-journal.com/TESOL_Certificate.php
They say it is free but it isn't totally. For the 120 hour course you need to spend $100 on a book and $60 on a certificate approximately. From reading the course outline it sounds like a decent course though. It is accepted by both the University of Southern Queensland in Australia and the University of Salford in britain as partial credit towards a masters program.
Has anyone taken this course? If so tell us about it. |
