I haven't been so slothlike in atleast a year. Seriously, I have done nothing but eat pizza and watch tv all day. I feel like I have gained 50 kilograms and put my brain into a permanent sleep. I hope tomorrow is a bit better |

It has been a nice couple of days of sleep may I add.
Was interesting to see people wanting to stand up in the train just to peek at the flood. You can't see the bike track, basketball courts or the poor duck houses.
I also wonder what happened to all those beggars staying in the area.
Weather forecast tells me that Monday and Tuesday will have thunderstorms. |

I took the train into Seoul today because I was afraid of the flooding. I road most of the way along the river. It's really high. Some roads right next to it are flooded. And a lot of people are stopping their cars and looking. Or they're getting close to the edge. Umm, bad idea. |

I spent the night in Itaewon and the following morning took line 4 south and got off at Dongjak. Everything right next to the river is flooded. All those nice parks are under 10 feet or more of storm runoff and sewage. All you see are tree tops. I dont think ill be playing in those Han River parks or setting up a picnic on the grass anytime in the near future. Gross. |

The Olympic highway that goes out to Gimpo airport is flooded. The highway roadsigns look funny situated in a running river (Sunday, five pm). |

Indeed, a bad day for inline skating enthusiasts.
I live in Oksu along the Han River and just went down to the river to take a look. I'm glad I live on a hill, cause if the water keeps rising, the base of Oksu station will be underwater. I walked on top of Dongho Bridge, and looked down on the Gangbyeon Expressway, which is now closed. The Gangbyeon Expressway could even go underwater if it rises much more.
I wonder what it looks like around Cheongyecheon.
I'm going to watch the news carefully during the next few days, and be careful about where I go. I imagine Seoul's infrastructure is going to get affected. |

RT,
Thanks..I really would enjoy seeing some pictures. If anyone else has pictures in their area please post them as well. I know there were some in another thread both of the Han River (although it was from a newspaper article) and one another teacher posted from down south. |

I live on the north bank of the Han between the main railway bridge and Han Gang Dae Gyo. The bike track is under about 4 metres of water and the river level looks only about 3 metres from the underside of the bridge deck. At this point, where Gangbyon expressway cuts under the railway bridge, the road is under about 2 metres of water.
The level does not seem to be falling; if anything, with the rain continuing, it could rise further. |

The water level under the bridges is dangerously high. And look at all the crud in the river.
There's the Congress building.
A closer look at the crud.

The level is dropping now and the riverside roads - at least between Han Gang road and rail bridges - are open again. |

Know the lower bridge that connects the main road that runs in front of Capitol Hotel and Express Bus Terminal? It looks like it's been washed out. Plan on extra commute time if you travel that route. Doh! |
