Hi,
I'd like a little help if possible......I have about 30itchy bites on my legs and they are killing me! I had zero sleep last night and I'm going insane. I went to the pharmacy/drugstore but of course it's closed today so I'm getting a little desperate here.
Does anyone have any suggestions for getting rid of the problem that don't involve pharmaceuticals? Or any products I could use that might help me.
I have had itchy bites before but for some reason these ones are really driving me insane! |

two things:
1. use rubbing alcohol on them
2. use a blowdryer on the bites for a few minutes. The itchiness should go away. |

wash well with very hot water, as hot as you can take it and lots of soap, you can also rub some soap on and leave it
be careful not to scratch too much, i had 4 infected bites recently because i have zero self control when it comes to itching and had to suffer even more as it got red, swollen and skin broke open |

If you can get to a corner store and buy some baking soda, you can make a paste with the baking soda and a little bit of water and apply to the bites. It makes a bit of a white cakey look, but if you're just around your apartment and want relief, it's a sure thing.
You should be able to find baking soda. I've seen commercials for it here.
Good luck - I feel your pain. Bugs love me. |

Try some tea bags, it is great for itching and for sunburn, too. Just pour hot water on some tea bags and then use them to pull out the pain.
Hope this helps too/ |

im glad to hear it, nothing worse than itchy, painful bites!
(if you have hydrogen peroxide, that also works really well, swab it on the bites with a cotton swab and repeat until you feel better) |

When the pharmacy opens back up, ask for hydrocortisone cream and some antihistamine pills (diphenhydramine or a similar drug should be available without a prescription). |

This is good advice based on my experience (both reduce swelling and inflamation); but everything really depending on what type of bites they are.
---
When I lived in Indonesia, where mosquito bites are viciously itchy, the local people I knew rubbed the bites with Tiger Balm. This really works, but I can't say why. The effectiveness lessens if you keep doing it though. I guess you build up a resistance to the Tiger Balm.
For Chigar bites, I think that I read somewhere that, you should cover them with clear nail polish.
The OP never really said what kind of bites: mosquito, bed bug, gnat, blackfly, deer or sand tick, chigar... Or how the OP got them: hiking, sleeping, at the beach, watching TV... Those things would be kind of important for suggesting a folk remedy. |

I was sleeping in a room with four other people at the mud festival. I was the only one in the room who got bitten.
I'm not sure what was biting me but I assume it was mosquitos. |

I've been impressed with all the advice and taking mental notes.
There are possibilities other than mosquitos, though. They are discernable bites? Not a rash or allergy?
At least you're getting relief. Hope you guys had fun. |

Sounds a bit like bed-bugs maybe. I got bit in the legs exactly like that once too. I was pretty sure it was bed-bugs when it happened to me. Don't know why they choose the legs though. Strange. Sorry no remedy off the top of my head for that. Check the net, is my advice |
