Well, at this event there is a Salsa dancing performance. But, yes there is Salsa dancing in Korea and it is an international crowd. I don't have the info with me but I have heard up by Hong-ik University there is a club or two. |

I've actually seen a group of people Salsa dancing in Korea before, and let me tell ya - it was a sad sight to behold. First of all, it was a class, and the instructor was Korean, but she was very good. However, the crowd was not having any of the loosey-goosey hips movement, and everyone looked very stiff and uncomfortable.
Unfortunately, I don't have any information as to whether the people were amateurs or advanced, but man! Salsa is not supposed to look as if you've suddenly been stricken with rigormortis! |

BNROCKIN,
Don't listen to POCKETFLUFF..
There is a great YOUNG SALSA community in Seoul..Apgujong has a club where they give free lessons, and Hongdae has another one where they used to give free lessons as well on Sundays. I know, I tried it in Hongdae last year. Man, I forgot the name of the club. It was kind of nice and fast paced teaching, which i liked. I love music and dancing; Salsa, classic house & the clubs, and would love to try tango..
So, they teach you and then they insist on going out together on the weekends hitting another Salsa club right smack in centre of Hongdae. It's a great place to meet people who share common rhythmical interests. Knowing a little of the Korean language would help though. You should try to persuade one of your Korean friends to go with you jsut for one lesson, if you have any..Then, you can go just by yourself after being introduced to members and amateurs from the first lesson.
Again, i don't remember the names of these places but I'll try to find out and post it here again. From the looks of your avatar, you must be a latino boy of some sort just dying to strut your stuff.. Dude, trust me, there are some good dancers here and the girls are HOT HOT HOT!!! Some of them are intermediate dancers and some are beginners. But watching those HOT Korean girls with long legs and long black silky hair dance the salsa, it's spectacular and juicy..You'll like it. Try to do some research on Seoulstyle.com and maybe find out about these places. One thing i remember, at the Salsa clubs, they always throw in the "Ran Kan Kan" track from the Mambo Kings Soundtrack and everyone goes nuts. It's Fun..
Last year, I had about 6 lessons but stopped going there because my Girlfriend just didnt have the rhythm and I was drooling too much at the other chics who were exceptional...he he..For the life of me, i can't remember the names of these clubs or directions.
Anyway, I don't agree with Pocketfluff. The Korean youth which I've seen here dance the Salsa looked great and sexy.
