Typically? Just curious. To get a job is it mandatory to go through a recruiter? |

No idea on the first count, absolutely not necessary on the second count. |

I've heard about a million a head. Had a school I was working for offer me 800,000 if I got a new teacher for them. |

It can depend on whether a prospective teacher is young, white, female, attractive, or from North America. |

Yeah, they might get a million, but they don't necessarily MAKE a million. They have to spend time phoning people which costs time and money. Sometimes they have to visit a hagwon again and again which costs transportation money. I can't imagine it being an easy job trying to please both sides at the same time and I'd never want to do it.
I don't think recruiters are mandatory. I got a new job without a recruiter. I was GOING to use ATC recruiting, but they have problems with calling people (they called me 45 minutes late once, as I was walking out the door to go to work and then never called again although they said they would). But, I got a new job anyway (really lucked out and may owe my firstborn to someone now). The job I have now....no recruiter. The one before, no recruiter....before that...no recruiter. I think that the only time I used a recruiter was for the first job....wait, no, I answered an ad directly. I have never used a recruiter?!?! |

I agree with 1.5 million. My old hakwon, located in a small town, paid that for a teacher 5 years ago, so it might be more now. |

Thanks a lot. I think I found someone for my school but I'm going to demand that they pay me a recruitment bonus for that person. |

Wow, demand is a strong word for something that is most likely not in your contract. Plus, you won't be doing any of the work the recruiter does, will you? |
