What the hell went on in Serie A?
Serie A sides Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina have been demoted to the second division for their involvement in Italy's match-fixing scandal.
Juventus were also stripped of their last two Serie A titles and had 30 points deducted, meaning they are likely to stay down for two seasons.
AC Milan will stay in Serie A but will start the season docked 15 points.
All are barred from playing in Europe - Juventus, Milan and Fiorentina in the Champions League; Lazio the Uefa Cup.
Lazio were penalised seven league points while Fiorentina suffered a 12-point penalty.
Inter, Roma, Chievo and Palermo, who finished third, fifth, seventh and eighth, are in line to take the places of the penalised clubs in next season's Champions League.

Ouch.
Juve will have a hard time trying to maintain their talent pool.I guess every coach in Europe will be on a plane to Turin.Christmas comes early this year.2 or 3 years before they return to Serie A.
Only a 15 point deduction for AC.A little unusual. When the scandal broke Burlesconi was up in arms demanding the 2005 and 2006 championships saying he was sick of the injustice. He kept quiet pretty soon after that remark though.
I wonder how things will change on appeal. |

| It was a great move. You fight corruption by stomping it out in a big way. This will show other teams that cheating will not be tolkerated. Pretty much 3 teams have just been given a major kick to the balls, and will have a tough time of climbing out of Seria B when their major talent dives, er I mean jumps ship. I dont blame the divers, er, players for wanting to dive, er, I mean jump from a sinking platform, er, I mean springboard, er, I mean ship. |
