Just wondering... what cable do Koreans use to connect their computers to the internet? The same one that I use here in the US, or will I need some type of conector?

LAN cables are universal - same as you use at home will work here.
And, they will give you one when they come with your modem to hook you up anyway. |

But what happens when I don't have a modem? <y computer connects directly to the wall outlet with nothing in between except the cable.
Yes, your Cat5 cable will work here but they will give you a new one anyway. |
