|

Hey folks,
I'm heading to Southeast Asia (specifically Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam) and China for a couple months. Does anyone know what vaccines I should be looking into, how to get 'em, and/or how much they cost? Of course, a redirection to any sort of resource where I could find said info would suffice.
And hey, if anyone's gonna be in the above mentioned countries in September or October, PM me!

You should have or have had your Hep A, Hep B, DPT, and MMR. Typhoid and/or Cholera would be nice to have also.
Most of those are routine vaccines in western countries (the ones you get back when you were in grade school) so probably only Hep A & B and maybe a tetnus booster.
If you are going out into the country side then mosquito protection is important (against malaria and dengue fever) or anti malarial meds should be considered as well.

To go to Cambodia you MUST have yellow fever shot. (15,500 won, no insurance card needed). International Clinic in Itaewon does NOT offer it. You CAN get it at the National Medical Center. Dongdemun Stadium subway station, exit 13 walk straight 5 minutes, on your right. It's a big hospital w/signage in English. You do need to call to make an appointment. Maybe 2262-4833; if that doesn't work try 2260-7114 or 7092 or 7463, I don't remember which one got me to appointments. They offered other shots too. MMR, IVR, HepA, Hep B...maybe more...I'm working from memory here. Wait time was long -- maybe 2 hours start to finish with an appointment. |
