I've done the search and it looks alright but I want to update on the city with people currently living there/near there. I believe they have the usual marts within the area (walmart, e-mart, carrefour, costco etc) as well as the shopping centres (which I like!). I'm not so into bars and stuff, I love the outdoors.
Anyway, I've been screwed around looking for jobs so hopefully this is the final stop for me. I'm hoping its not a drag like where I was (SNU). |

I used to live close to Bupyeong and went there all the time. There is (or was) a bar there called Goose Goose that was a nice foreign hangout. There was also a little bit of a 'black' market close by as well where you could pick up things like orange cheddar cheese, imported candy, nice little things like that. And there's also a pretty large area of 'back street' shops with lots of cool stuff. If you ever want to eat pig head, that's that place to go. They also have all the 'marts' as you said.
The only downside is that it's a little far from Seoul. |

The "Goose Goose" is allright if you like bars consisting of 5 frumpy western chicks, 3 or 4 k girls and 50 or so dudes.

Well, I hadn't realized that Goose Goose had changed so much. Of course it's been more than 2 years since I've been there.
As to the little black market...man...again, it's been about 2 years since I've been there, I wouldn't even know where to begin explaining where it is. If you know where Goose Goose is (from that huge intersection with the burger king) walk to past Goose Goose and keep to the left. Keep walking away from Goose Goose and to the left, but don't leave the 'market' area around there. Eventually you should be able to find it. It's a bunch of small shops that have a small imported selection of goods.
I know those directions are pretty weak...sorry I can't remember better. |

Thanks guys. Went down to Bupyeong and boy was it huge!
Didn't really know what I was looking for in lotte mart but the underground market was something else.
Saw "goose goose", the area resembles myeongdong with a local market next to it.
I am actually excited about going there now.
What about outdoor stuff like big mountains and bike tracks? I know I'm going to be far from the Han river (where I like to run/ride/play ball/check out the scenery). |

The most fun outdoorsy stuff to do in Incheon, IMHO, is visiting the nearby islands. Yeonan Pier is about a half hour busride from Bupyong with ferries going to dozens of islands with beaches and small mountains. Lots of great weekend fun.
There's a small mountain (300m) called Gyeyangsan in North Incheon about 15 minutes north of Bupyong by subway, but when I lived in Incheon and wanted to go on a big hike I'd usually end up taking a bus or subway to someplace like Bukhansan or Dobongsan.
I had a great time during the two years I lived in Bucheon and Incheon. |
