until I get to Busan?

I really prefer PCs, but I realize that I need to get a laptop for Korea. I'm not talking anything special. I just want something to check my email, download porn, watch DVDs, listen to music, etc.

you could get a decent one for 1 million won in seoul. I know busan and seoul is far from each other but for a laptop i would stop by and check some out

The problem with many stores here is that you might not get an English language version with your 'puter. There's always the new Apple Macbook, which is just a shade under $1100, comes with loads of options including a built-in camera and multiple languages. It's got free shipping in the States too, so you can set it up before you leave...

Then again, I love Macs.

If you are going to type in Hangeul, the Korean keyboard is a great help.

Good point. I use Apple's Korean/English USB k/b plugged in to the MacBook; it's $35 from the Seoul Apple Store.

Make sure you buy extra RAM if you intend to do any graphics-heavy work or movie projects (the original poster sounds like he doesn't need it though). The Intel chips are fine but the new Macs video cards share RAM from the system.

As for the black MacBook: I like it too but it sucks that they charge so much for it. Kind of a rip, actually.

If you intend on using Korean, you can always buy the stickers that you put on the keys. I don't think they are expensive and it saves carrying another keyboard around.

There are also the roll-up keyboards if you really want one.

I'd be buying a MacBook Pro if my wife hadn't put the brakes on my spending yesterday...

You can print off the Korean (or Japanese, or Cyrillic, or whatever) k/b layout on the Mac. It's super-easy to do and saves on stickers or rollup k/b or whatever.
