Hopefully, people can go through this link to an article in the NYT about Kim Jung Hyun, a man who has made his living as a naeng myun restauranteur in Korea, Paraguay, and the US.
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/19/dining/19noodles.html?ex=1153540800&en=e13f48eacde60153&ei=5087%0A
Interesting tidbits about preparation of the dish, but what most struck me was the that the man had made this his living because he liked naeng myun and if he owned the restaurant, he could eat it whenever he wanted. And he did, three times a day for many years, apparently.
If the link doesn't work, let me know. |

Yikes!!! $12 for neng myeon? I'd open a restaurant that made that stuff too if I could charge 12 bucks for it. I wonder what kim bap goes for in LA or NY |

I really like neng myun, but there is no way I am paying 12 bucks for it I will make a bastardized version of it if I need back home for much less. |

i think i might head down to Dae Dong tomorrow for a bowl!
(gimbap in nyc ranges between $3-5 per roll depending on where you buy it, a bowl of jjajangmyun is $6, a serving of ddukbokki from a boon-shik is $5) |
