Has anyone had time to go shopping in Fukuoka or other places in Japan during their Visa run?

What did you bring back?

I never found anything that I really needed to buy over there. There's that weird mall in Fukuoka whose name I can't remember; if you're looking to shop that's where I'd recommend.

There's a mall right across from the Korean Consulate. Depends what you're shopping for.

Canal city is good, but I prefered Comme Ca Ism - which is more of a very funky department store. Can't tell you where it is as I found it after an epic walk around the city, but its worth looking out for.

Seahawk Resort is good. There's also a wonderful buffet restaurant in there.

There's an upscale grocery store in the building next door to the Central Hotel, which is where you'll stay if you do the Kangsan Travel package out of Busan. (I just got back. Loved Fukuoka.) If there had been more room in my suitcase I'd have stocked up on food products I can't find here. (Why can't you get the big bottles of Perrier in Korea?)

Canal City's great. I was happy to find Wendy's, weirdly enough. Haven't had one of their chicken sandwiches in a while. Nice to see the Gap and Zara, too. The Lush store was better-stocked than the ones here.

I liked the arcade you walk through between the subway station and Canal City. Lots of interesting little shops.

ACROS and the mall across the street, Eenie Meenie Miney Mo (I might have got the spelling wrong) had a lot of the upscale stores -- Prada etc -- but you can get most of that stuff here.

Kinokuniya's in Tenjin Core: okay selection of English-language books, comparable to Bandy & Luni's (sp?), more English translations of Japanese authors than you'll find here.

Have fun. It's a cool city.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to Fukuoka. I want to buy a number of things (headphones, food and some computer stuff).
