I'll have to send off my diploma and transcipts in a few days to get a visa. I checked with the korean embassy and it seems to be a huge hassle and pricey to get the degree notorised. Apparently it first needs to be signed by a solicitor/notary, then it needs to be handed into the supreme court where it needs to be signed by a judge. Then it must be brought to the Foreight Affairs office to be signed and stamped once again. AFter that it must be brought back to the korean embassy where it is kept over night and then signed and stamped or whatever. All this seems costly and time consuming and a lot of effort. Is it like this for every country?
I can get the original diploma reissued from my university for 40 euro, which seems to be a better choice. |

That's not what usually happens. All you normally have to do is take your original with some copies to a Korean Consulate and they will notarize them there for a small fee. I've never ever heard of someone having to jump through the hoops your talking about.
Call your nearest Korean Consulate and ask them. |

I rang the Korean embassy up again. It seems that I do have to jump through all those hoops. I think I'll just send the original. |
