|
|
I've got some TV shows and a movie or two in .avi format that I'd like to burn to DVD. I don't really need chapters & menus and all that, I just want to be able to put them into my home system and watch them on the TV instead of on the computer screen.
When I try to import the files into iMovie (I use a Mac, by the way), I get an error message telling me that the files are too large, that I need to use Quicktime Pro (need to buy the licence online...) to cut them into smaller pieces.
I've also tried simply putting a writeable DVD disc into the drive and just drag-and-drop, but for some reason the computer doesn't recognize the disc. (Could this be an issue with DVD-R vs. DVD+R?)
Do I need to get another program (like Toast) to burn my shows? |

| I *do* happen to have easy access to PC's. Would you care to further enlighten me, O Sagacious One? |

Big question... HOW BIG are the files?
For DVDs make sure that you are burning them at SP and not high quality (2 hrs per disk - up to 4.7 gig for SP and 8 gig for HQ).
From a PC you can use something like powerproducer or nero to burn them as DVDs onto a DVD or as data onto either a DVD or CD-R.
You can also use winXP to drag and drop them as data onto a disk. You can't play these in your DVD player, just on your PC.

If your DVD player can handle avi (mine can) then you do nothing just burn them to DVD if not then you need to convert them. This is easy as there are a number of guides around the net. I'll be using this guide later in the week when I have more time to let my computer run for several hours - just downloaded 24 episodes of a childrens show for my daughter.
anyhow hope this helps. |
