Koreans and registered foreign residents will no longer have to complete an immigration form every time they travel in and out of the country from next month, the Justice Ministry announced yesterday.
Starting on Aug. 1, the ministry will eliminate the filling in of entry and exit forms for "faster and better" immigration processes.
The new process had been trialed at Gimpo Airport in Seoul since July 10. Travelers are required to show only their passports for the immigration process.
The ministry decided to expand the system to all airports as it has been "successful" in reducing immigration queues. |

This really isn't "immigration" is it? Exiting and entering a country isn't immigration. |

But they do call it immigration at the airport... they always say you hav eto go through immigration before you can enter/leave.
Whatever you call it, this is good news.
Having said that, though, those of us who are married to Korean generally go queue with our spouse, so it's never really that much of a bother or that long a queue for us (me :p) |

It is nice but foreigners have been exempt from filling in the Exit/DEPARTURE cards since last January.
It will be nice that we don't have to fill in an entry card too. But now they have the compulsory customs declaration forms to fill in (that wern't required prior to January 2006) so give and take I suppose. |

plus you now have to go through a metal detector before you get to baggage claim at ICN, that wasn't there the last time I came back in Feb but was there when I was passing through ICN a couple of weeks ago
