it absolutely has to be..Back to the future!
There are so many things in korea that remind me of that film!
to my mind the average korean ajosshi is a bit like "Bif" who drags his supposed girlfriend into the car kicking and screaming.
then theres the scene where Michael j fox plays some 60's tunes to a stunned audience at the school disco. They stare on, emotionless, just like a korean crowd watching a concert.
Theres the whole macho 50's thing happening; bigger flashier cars to impress, and a people misbehaving in an innocent sort of way (ie no pot or drugs on the scene yet).
I suppose you could say "i guess you're just not ready for that yet". |

He looks like one of the wacky waeguk teachers I used to know here. the difference is, he actually made it back home to the USA and 2006.

| Korea reminds me of Requiem for a Dream, because this is the place where wings take dream and the bbongjjak soothes us incessantly. |

Shrek is a lovably disgusting ogre (ESL teacher in Korean eyes), who lives alone in a swamp he calls home, in a rotting tree stump, covered with moss (as many ESLers discover). He is mean, he is nasty, and he is alone (moral tale of how freaky foreigners are made; or, again, how Koreans see us sometimes).
In a nearby town, in a massive castle, Lord Farquad a man who may be compensating for something with the insane size of his keep (your typical ajjosi, overextended businessman) desperately seeks a princess to be his bride (princess diseased). Unfortunately, he requires a brave, strong knight to find and rescue the one he has chosen, from the highest tower of a dragon-infested castle surrounded by a lake of boiling molten lava(needs waygook to save his business, so that he could afford his girl)
Lets not forget Donkey, likeable yet the most incredibly aggravating talking donkey in the universe to date (Koreans wanting to practice their English). |

Due to the recent weather: Withnail and I.
Trapped in a dank apartment, heavy rainfall, booze, and only witty dialogue to keep me sane. |

I follow you, but the movie to which you refer is definitely the Toxic Avenger, Part II.
