Non-Regular Workers to Get Better Job Security
Some 320,000 non-regular workers in the nation's public sector, including state-run companies, are likely to obtain better job security and working conditions as part of the government's measures to improve the lives of non-regular workers.

"The plan will contain reasonable methods to address the hardships of irregular workers," said Rep. Je Jong-geel of the governing party during a briefing. Je said the new measure is also aimed at rooting out unfair employment contract practices.... Proposed last year by the governing party, the bill aims to have companies hire short-term contract workers for up to two years. Those employed longer than that period would be given the status of regular workers.
