Call the Immigration Department- they'll put you on the right track. Good luck.

Is there a place to find privates in Seoul? That is turting English. Or is it all contacts?

Just place an ad in the local paper. You will be flooded with contacts that all desire high quality "turting English."

If you call the local immigration office they will give you a list of contacts as well.

C'mon guys.

Benbby, private English "tutoring" is illegal on an E-2 visa in Korea. Get caught doing that by immigration and it's a bad ride for you.

Although, I have heard tell of some people who are allowed to bring their private students to their hogwans and tutor them there. I think that's ok isn't it?

Yes. If you are doing it IN YOUR HAKWON then it is technically an English class and NOT technically private teaching.

ya know... I usually DON'T do things like this and usually give honest and straight forward advice but that "TROLL QUESTION" begged a stupid answer.

It's not like it's not in the FAQs:
Sticky: Private Lessons
http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=20645

and if someone bothered to scroll back even just a couple of days there are about 4 threads on the issue

AND if you do a search you can find about 999 threads on the issue of privates AND the penalty for getting caught.

Anyone who needs to ask the question in the manner that was asked probably should NOT be considering them in the first place. They are too green and will likely get caught, fired, fined and deported.

Did you hear that Benbby

Let me repeat it again for you..... but a little louder so other newbies can hear it too....

There are so many moral high-horses on this board. Perhaps he should spend his evenings and weekends gettin' shit-faced, blowing his salary on booze, and being stuck here with no money in ten years when the ESL bubble finally bursts.

OP, if you wanna do privates, source them by word of mouth, ie a friend of a friend. Earn what you can while the going is still good, then move on to greener pastures. I've heard rumors of people being busted on worknplay. Good luck.

MD
