So a couple friend spread throughout SEAsia are planning on hitting Thailand for NYE. Ideally I want to spend a couple day on a beach, NO city stuff. I'll save that for another time.
Any suggestions for places in Thailand? Phuket seems to be the place to go, but maybe there's a secret or lesser known plae there that would be just as good... I have no illusions that I'll find "the Beach". What could I expect to fork out for a a place to stay (the travel I think Im good with).
I've heard that you can get a beach hut for really cheap, is that true? Can you get a place to hold say ten people really close to a beach? Would it be better to hit a hotel or resort? Oh, and how nuts is the place come NYE? I have a feeling a lot of people do this sort of thing.
Any other thoughts or suggestions?

No, at least not the most built up part, Patong beach. Avoid.

The beach was filmed on Phi Phi, which is 'doable'.
If I could go back though, I'd head immediately to the Similians. |
