Am going to Europe via singapore and have a fairly long layover in singapore. What would be the best currency, should I get local for the 10hrs, or American or such? Any suggestions would be great.

Singapores Changi airport is one of the most modern and well equipped airports in the world. You can exchange currency easily 24 hours a day.

However, I would advise that you use your ATM card to withdraw Singapore dollars when you arrive, and exchange the left over to your currency of preference (Euros?) on departure.

Take care

Singapore $$ is the only thing they are going to take outside the airport. Use an ATM.

You can catch the MRT/Subway/SkyTrain thing right at the airport and blast right into town - Orchard Road - or even to a couple big malls. Nice city for shopping, people watching etc.

You don't say what time of day you will laying over. But if your evening is free Clark's Quay is a great evening stroll.

Singapore's a beautiful city. I was only there for about 8 hours a few years ago, but it was great.

I can't wait to visit there again in the future.

You can pay for anything with USD, but your change will be in SPD. Changi airport rocks! You can watch movies (free), use the internet (free...second floor has lots more stations than the first), eat, drink, smoke, shop, sleep (there are a couple of rooms with loung-type chairs that are free), or go on a free Singapore tour. Check out this site: www.changi.airport.com.sg/
